I'm off to Atlanta for another exciting Dragon*Con (hopefully more exciting than last year). There'll be a webcam at wcnews.com so you can watch us all sleep and such, and I'll check in when I get back.

Meanwhile, in the midst of all the Hurricane-related tragedy, it does sound like the aquarium is faring well!

Here's an article about a woman who volunteered to stay behind during the hurricane to watch the fish. Quote:

Suzanne told her mother that when the aquarium lost power Monday, they quickly fired a generator. They had plenty of food and fresh water and, thus far, flood waters had not entered the building.

They had lost only one fish and he had been sick before the hurricane hit.

Then here's a more general article from today that mentions the aquarium:

Indeed, in some areas of New Orleans itself — a city without power, without light, without water, without sanitation — the structural damage to buildings is only superficial. At the Aquarium of the Americas, at the bottom of Canal Street, a massive backup generator is maintaining proper temperatures to keep its sea life healthy.

The Man Called Flintstone arrived today in the mail. I wish the news would focus on events like this and keep on the bright side of everything.
